This workshop describes 9 critical functional communication skills required by all communicators, independent of their communicative modality. We will distinguish between communication that is spontaneous, responsive, or imitative. When people cannot initiate or otherwise calmly use these skills, many serious behavior problems are likely to arise.
The workshop will describe effective training strategies for children who speak or sign as well as those using augmentative or alternative communication systems. Having been ona 2-day PECS course - this course has answered a lot of the questions that I came across once I started using PECS - Great!
