Pyramid offers a variety of workshops and talks related to PECS and the Pyramid Approach. These vary in duration and content, so for fuller details please follow the link to the regular workshop details page.

We need your help

We have been hearing an increasing number of accounts of “PECS Trainings” being conducted by individuals and groups outside of Pyramid Educational Consultants UK. We share the concern of the parents and educators who pass along this information to us. As you may know from your own experience, although PECS is not difficult for many of our students to learn it can be surprising complex to implement! We often get comments that attendees’ brains were on “overload” by the end of the second workshop day! It is not realistic to expect someone to attend a PECS Two-Day workshop and then be able to train a group of others to implement the system themselves.

Our Consultants work closely as a team with Andy Bondy and Lori Frost to maintain their expertise and to stay current on any PECS protocol modifications that are made. Unfortunately we are not able to say the same about those outside of our organisation. We cannot verify our workshop attendees’ PECS implementation skills nor their skill at training others in a group setting.

While PECS Implementer Certification verifies the candidate’s PECS implementation skills, it does not give authorization to conduct PECS trainings or consultation to others. The second level of certification, Certified PECS Supervisor, involves a Three Day PECS Supervisory workshop and demonstration of small scale PECS training and supervision of others using PECS. These individuals are authorised to conduct trainings of 10 or fewer people from their work agency only.

Please help us maintain the integrity of PECS by discouraging the practice of unauthorized PECS trainings in your area. We have seen too many cases of individuals who have not received PECS training from us, even with the best of intentions, incorrectly implementing PECS. The lack of progress causes frustration for the whole team and ultimately impacts the students the most.

In-house PECS Training and Support

We are happy to discuss in-house training linked with follow-up consultation, to meet the needs of groups, for example:

• individual schools keen to train all staff for a 'whole school' approach
• consortium of schools
• local groups or organizations
• LEAs, etc
  

We are committed to providing follow up support after training. It is clear from the research literature that training is most effectively implemented if follow up support is built in. "Knowing" about PECS is very different from "doing" it! Our aim is therefore to provide a firm foundation for all staff working with PECS through the 2-day PECS workshop.
